ALL GEDCOM DATABASE INFORMATION contained within this project, is considered to be Public Domain information by our Federal Government.  U.S. Copyright Law does not protect data, only the presentation of the data.  This is an important point for genealogists, because it means that facts (Names, Dates, Places, etc.) are not protected by copyright.  Therefore, you can not legally block any of this information from public viewing.

GEDCOM is the GEnealogical Data COMmunication standard that was established by the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  It's recommended that you reference the Wikipedia Encyclopedia webpage at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GEDCOM for a detailed explanation of what a GEDCOM database represents.

A GEDCOM Database CAN NOT BE PERMANENTLY CHANGED.  You should expect its content to be incomplete, contain inaccuracies & typo errors.  Attempting to make permanent record changes to a GEDCOM Database, isn't possible.  Once a record has been changed, incorrect records will simply continue to be merged into the database.  The trick is to try and determine "who" is making the incorrect submittals and have them change their records.

Herman Geschwin is now deceased and his database file dated 01-Dec-2006 (381,000 individuals), appears to be his last issue.  You can download this issue by visiting http://www.oldpendleton.scgen.org/GEDCOM/Database/Old Pendleton Database.exe NOTE: This Database.exe file will automatically download and install on your PC.

The OPDGS is aware that this 01-Dec-2006 issue is incomplete, contains inaccuracies & typo errors.  Work is underway to police this issue and to make needed corrections.  If you have any issues, please send them to Judy Long at judyl@nctv.com.
